I’m an entrepreneur and product designer.
My work has been awarded by Apple and covered by everyone from The New York Times to Esquire.
What am I good at? Catching trends early, designing things that are fun to use, and bringing great people together to build them.
Team is everything to me.
I’m a technologist who loves nature,
a futurist who lives for the present,
and an explorer who loves the feeling of home.
I’ve been a New Yorker, a Los Angeleno, and now an Austinite,
but I’ve always considered myself a citizen of the world.
I’m endlessly curious.
I’m usually wearing sneakers when I’m supposed to be wearing dress shoes.
And after more than fifteen years of building companies, I’ve learned that I will always have a lot to learn.

Tripnotes was one of the first travel-planning apps powered by AI and over 300 million data points. The app could extract destinations from any TikTok, text, note, or article — and build you a beautiful itinerary you could share with friends.

With over 16 million places and 350 million data points, Tripnotes is a place recommendation engine that is highly personalized to you and the place you are going. Understanding factors like time of day, traffic, and geography, Tripnotes was built to recommend the best places at the right time.
We launched this video showcasing the Tripnotes mobile experience on Twitter, and it quickly went viral. The founder of Foursquare praised it, saying, “Dig this. I keep telling people working on city guide startups: ‘You can’t just make a better version of Yelp; you have to reinvent the whole category of local search.’” This video led to over 1 million people trying Tripnotes in under 60 days.
Travel planning starts in a variety of places but a majority of it is text: notes, emails, articles, etc. Tripnotes is a text-native app – getting into our ecosystem is as easy as copy and paste. All context is preserved and helpful UI is drawn inline and on the map panel.
Using AI to generate travel plans is magic, but using plans when you arrive at your destination needs to be simple & seamless. Enter iOS 16 and Live Activities. Now you can explore freely without the stress of missing a place or reservation.
TikTok is an incredible resource for travel inspiration, so Tripnotes tapped into that. Found a great recommendation? Share to Tripnotes (or paste in the link) and Tripnotes will find each place, map them and connect all the helpful details. Simple as that.
We love following great threads of place recommendations on Twitter. Simply reply with @tripnotes. Tripnotes will automatically import all recommendations from the thread into your notes, mapping them and doing all the research you need.
Tripnotes streamlines travel planning by parsing various media to identify and organize mentioned destinations. It extracts location information from copied text, reads pages from URLs, and analyzes videos by converting speech to text. Tripnotes then maps each location, aggregating rich media, user reviews, and contact information, creating a comprehensive, personalized travel resource.

Ten years before Apple Vision Pro, Whiteboard originated some of the very first gestures, interfaces, and ways of thinking around collaboration in virtual reality. A fully functional design workspace made for the HTC Vive, Whiteboard made it fun and intuitive to create together.

Whiteboard was a next-gen VR collaboration tool designed to make remote teamwork feel as interactive as being in the same room. It combined a VR app, mobile app, and cloud network, enabling team members to collaborate on a virtual whiteboard. Supporting dynamic multimedia interaction, it seamlessly integrated virtual and mobile interfaces to transform remote collaboration.
Whiteboard’s mobile app streamlined virtual meeting management, offering scheduling, file access, document annotation, and meeting playback. Acting as a central hub, it synced with the VR platform via a cloud-based infrastructure for seamless integration. Users could manage room settings and media, ensuring efficient collaborative sessions.
Due to VR’s lack of design standards, our approach was experimental, adapting to existing technology while exploring innovative user interactions. This method allowed us to push the boundaries of what’s possible in VR, even with current hardware limitations.
Developing Whiteboard, we aimed to eliminate controllers for intuitive hand tracking, allowing natural VR interaction. However, current technology required controllers for precision.
Designing the virtual room for Whiteboard was creatively rich and technically challenging. We aimed to create a functional, inspiring space where remote teams felt connected and engaged. Drawing inspiration from planetariums and cinematic scenarios, we centered users for equal access and visibility, minimizing physical movement and maximizing interaction.
In the multiplayer beta of Whiteboard, two users collaborated in real-time, manipulating media as if in the same space. This prototype showcased VR’s potential for remote collaboration but also highlighted hardware limitations like processing power, connectivity, and user comfort, indicating VR wasn’t yet ready for widespread enterprise use.

We always saw Vimeo as the perfect home for Cameo, given our shared focus on video innovation and design. When Vimeo acquired us, our team transitioned, and I became VP, overseeing Cameo and mobile video creation. Cameo then became Vimeo’s default mobile video editor, continuing to shape video content creation.
When Cameo was acquired by Vimeo, we embraced the tradition of pushing a beer cart around on Fridays to meet the team and enjoy a beer. Joining this tradition led to plenty of hijinks and fun.

Fast Society was a communication app that simplified group connectivity during events and outings. It combined group text messaging with one-touch conference calling, catering to users needing easy coordination on-the-go. The service worked on virtually any mobile phone, praised for streamlining group communication.
Working with a team from CollegeHumor, including future Late Night producers and Hollywood actors, we uniquely highlighted the features and product experience of Fast Society.
During SXSW 2012, unofficially the year of group texting, we threw a massive “House Party” that quickly became an annual highlight. Amid a fierce competition with other apps, we aimed to sign up the most users, host the biggest events, and cover Austin in our promotional stickers.
Michael, Andy, and I were featured in the New York Times for our work on Fast Society. Our product was also mentioned in another article discussing the rise of group texting apps.
